Finally, I know I'm long overdue for a post. Anyway, I'm back and have a new blog for you that is perfect for the cosmetics junkies like myself. I recently stumbled across this fab. makeup site, eyeslipsface.com, that not only has a pretty broad selection of cosmetics but also fits perfectly into the budget of a young fashionista on a budget. Wanna know what's so great about this site? Well, everything in the general makeup section is $1. Crazy right?!?! In the studio section, most of these items are only $3.
Now of course I had to try this site out myself and I absolutely love it. I purchased several items and was given a makeup brush set as a birthday gift. I'm happy with all of the products I received but I really liked the tinted moisturizer and facial whip. I would recommend that you set up a profile, because once doing so it automatically comes up with product selections for you based on your preferences and model selection.
And lastly, if you google coupon codes for the site you can additionally save even more money or receive a gift. I used the code "LOYAL" and received a free mini makeup kit with my purchase.
So try it out and if you're not that happy with your purchase, the inexpensive items probably would put a huge dent in your finances. :-) Happy Shopping.

Blog #3: Let accessories be accessories.
Everyone knows that accessories can take a look from simple to chic. However, as we the consumers are bombarded with the latest headbands, bangles, handbags, and belts, it is fairly easy to over-accessorize and over-spend. Want to know how to save yourself from looking like this:
Here are a few tips to help you minimize what you spend to maximize your look.
1. Focus.
Yes, the first tip is quite simple but hard for some to do. Try this: Put together your entire look (including accessories), try it on, and look in the mirror. Can you decided what's the main feature of your look? If the answer is no, chances are you have too many elements. It's OK to add multiple accessory items to enhance a particular look; however it's important to be sure that they are adding to the look and not taking away from each other. For example, if you have on a large pair or earrings, you probably won't need a large, heavy necklace to go with it (ESPECIALLY if you have a shorter than average neck). Try removing one or replacing it with a smaller, more lightweight item. The important thing here is to keep it simple and focus.
2. Save money, buy embellished!
Let's face it, accessory costs can really start to become a burden on a budget. Want to save some money on these items? Buy embellished! Whether they are beaded, ruched, or sequined, embellished items are HOT and depending on the style, they can accessorize themselves. Take a look at some of these steals:

3. Unique and chic.
Want to really spice up your look? Go for an accessory item that is unique. Anyone can be trendy, but the key is finding that special piece that sets you apart. That a look at some of these headbands by Hadas Foxman:

These pieces range from $25 to $55, which can be a bit pricey for a young fashionista on a budget. However, Hadas Foxman offers a different sale each month, so if you're looking for a unique accessory piece, you're always in on a bargain. If you're interested in purchasing one of these items, you can do so by clicking here or by email: peacockheadbands@gmail.com.
Another great place to find unique accessory items on the net is Ms. Bee Designs. This site offers exclusive pieces in a variety of categories. I'm a huge fan of the Feathered Fantasy collection:

These items vary in prices, but overall they are inexpensive and fun.
So remember, be wise about your accessory choices. These items can make or break a look. Be cautious on your spending, but also invest in items that will set you apart from the rest.
Happy Shopping. :-)

Blog #2: 3 Tips to Being Economically Fashion Savvy
I've been thinking all day about what my first official posting regarding fashion should be about. As I started brainstorming, I began to compile a list of tips that I follow myself to being economically fashion savvy. Here are my top 3:
1. Use your resources.
With technology nowadays, it is so easy to find great deals on that perfect piece you're looking for. Unless you happen to stumble upon that OMG-I can't breath-I must have it item that you absolutely can't live without, there's no need to to rush into purchasing something not knowing if you could be paying less for it. Use your resources! My absolute favorite fashion resource is shopstyle.com. With their search tool, not only can you find hundreds of results for the item you're looking for, but you can also narrow your search by price range, color, size, etc. Come on people! It doesn't get any better than this! Compare prices before missing out on a good deal.
2. Cost-per-wear.
Now after you research and get a few options you'll probably be debating on prices. One little handy fashion merchandising tool to consider is cost-per-wear. When you're on a tight budget, you probably shouldn't be spending a couple hundred dollars on a single piece that you'll only wear once or twice within the season. Cost-per-wear helps you figure out exactly what you're paying each time you wear the piece and it's a very simple equation. All you do is divide the price you pay for an item by the number of times you wear it or anticipate to wear it. Let's say you purchase a pair of bright yellow skinny jeans for $200 and given the color and style along with what's currently in your wardrobe, you end up only wearing them 4 times within the season. Basically, you paid $50 for each time you wore that pair of jeans. Is that a good investment for a young ECONOMICAL fashion savvy diva? You be the judge.
3. Staple items? A must!
One key to being economically fashion savvy is being able to mix and match pieces to give yourself a variety of looks. Wanna know how to master this? Invest in staple pieces! This can include a little black dress, a pair of pumps, a cardigan, a black business suit, etc. Staple pieces are items that never go out of style. Now of course, what is considered a staple item varies with age, gender, and personal interests (this includes hobbies and occupations). However, for example purposes I did a little mix and match of what I like to include in my wardrobe that can be worn in various ways, whether I'm going to class or out on the town. The specific style of these items may change, but it's general category (ex. a pair of jeans) are what I consider key items in my wardrobe. All of these items can be purchased together for under $200 ($197.94 to be exact) and when mixed and matched I came up with 7 different looks.
Here goes...

First set...

Second set...
The skinny jeans, print tunic dress, jacket, metallic belt, and scarf can be purchased from Forever21. The cardigan is from Alloy, the leggings are from New York & Company, the white tunic top is from ArdenB, the boots are from Charlotte Russe, and the pumps are from WetSeal.
One thing I can appreciate about a short tunic dress is that it can function as a dress or as a top when worn over jeans. When they have a print pattern, like the one above, the colors can be played with and you'd be surprised what difference it makes when you switch it up. Also hair and makeup truly complete your look, so make sure you spend just as much time figuring that out as you do putting an outfit together. Seriously, how many red carpet disasters have we seen simply because someone's hair or makeup artist dropped the ball? Don't be that disaster. :-)
Happy shopping. Later!

Blog #1: Who is Soph the Shopaholic

I am a 22 yr. old student studying fashion merchandising at a small liberal arts university. With my degree, as of now, I plan on entering the fashion industry in the field of journalism and/or special events. I'm your average college student in the sense that I don't have tons of money, therefore I feel as though I've become some sort of an expert on being economically fashion savvy. With this blog, I hope to share a little knowledge about how to acquire a fabulous, budget-friendly wardrobe.
